Wensum Winners!

Melton progressed to the 2nd round of this season's Wensum Cup with a comfortable win at Costessey on Tue 6 May.  Having been asked to field first Melton's opening bowlers Kyle Mason and Paul Stearman kept things tight and at the end of their four over spells each had bagged two wickets.  Joe Bickel took two wickets in his first over and Neal Clarke one in his to leave the home side in tatters at 33-7 at the mid point of their 20 over innings.  A recover of sorts took place as Secret hit a brisk 23 but Costessey were bowled out for 68 in 13.5 overs.  Melton's catching was good with almost every attempt by the home side to hit their way out of trouble leading to another wicket.

Jon Moxon and Matt Clarke opened for Melton and were kept in check by a pacy opening attack but a regular supply of wides kept the total moving.  Clarke skied one for 9 and Greenslade played a slog to be bowled but Moxon continued to play calmly with the run rate never an issue.  Tim Hales was yorked for 0 leaving Navin Sharma to come in and make 12 not out seeing Melton home with Moxon unbeaten on 28 with 7 overs to spare.

Melton have a home draw next time out against the winners of Drayton and Norwich City Council.  The game is likely to be played on Wed 28 May.
