Eaton Run Riot in Wicklewood Shield
Eaton (177-1) beat Great Melton (106-4) by 71 runs at CNS in the Wicklewood Shield
Boasting a batting line up which would grace many an Alliance side, Eaton seemed determined to put their visitors to the sword in this Wicklewood Shield Divisional game at CNS. A stiff breeze on a cooling evening did not help the seam rich bowling line up as Matt Duke (16), Nick Dunmore (50ret), Michael Barker (57ret), Sam Butcher (25*) and Rob Breeze (16*) unleashed a barrage of shots all round the crease, with a succession of boundaries and 4 big maximums on their collective way to 177 off their 20 overs.
Melton’s cause was not helped when Adam Thomson collapsed on his follow through with a ruptured knee ligament. Craig Wilson (1/24) took the only wicket to fall for Melton, snapped up by Oli Leinster behind the stumps.
In reply Kyle Weston struck a well crafted 45*, whilst Kai Wilkinson Loines (16) and Jon Moxon (16) offered some resistance but the game was long gone by the time the school clock struck eight. Matt Duke (1/6), Paul Maund (1/24) and Gary Gray (1/23) each took wickets for Eaton, with Neil Barker’s 4 over spell costing a mere 11 runs.
Next Wednesday, Wicklewood are the visitors to Melton Park in a game both sides have to win to progress to the semi final.
