First-Ever Win For U9s
GREAT MELTON U9s beat ASHMANHAUGH & BARTON WANDERERS U9s by 20 runs at Melton Park in the John Dewing Trophy
The under 9s team recorded their first win, beating Ashmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers by 20 runs in the John Dewing competition. Fielding first, Melton restricted the visitors to 249 -6 (219 net) with captain Sam Johnson and Holly Marchant taking two wickets each. George Bell, keeping wicket for the first time, Mark Attfield, Aaron Bradford and Lohit Kannan worked hard in the field in support of the bowlers. Two early wickets for the visitors put pressure on the Great Melton batters but Charlie Green and debutante, Jack Rooney provided the platform in the middle order and no other wickets were lost apart from a run out off the last ball of the match. By then victory was secured with a total of 254-3 (239).
