MacKay in the runs as Melton dominate
GMCC B team vs Eaton – Saturday 22nd April
GMCC B team 215 a/o beat Eaton 115 /6 by 100 runs.
Early season form based on some good net practise helped Great Melton to dominate this traditional pre-season friendly as never before.
Phil Bugg (45), playing only his third match for Melton after two Sunday A Team friendlies, played initially an anchor role as opener alongside Woody Loines (17), but cut loose after two vicious pull shots off Neil Barker (1/37).
It was Chris MacKay (71) who took the game away from the hosts in a typically rumbustious fashion, eventually falling to the part time spin of Matt Duke (1/48)
Luke Billington (3/30) provided some semblance of control from his 10 overs, whilst Rob Duke (4/43) bagged the most victims of the day.
In response, Leo de Salis’ opening salvo of 6 overs, 4 maidens 1 for 2 and Ryan Hayward’s 6 over blast 2 for 9, stifled the life out of the home side’s reply.
Only Rob Duke with 28*, Owen Chambers 19* and Sam Butcher, with an uncharacteristically slow 18 provided any real resistance.
