Under 9s Show Promise in Swaffham Defeat
GREAT MELTON U9s lost to SWAFFHAM U9s by 31 runs at Swaffham in the John Dewing Trophy
Batting first, Gt Melton faced some hostile bowling from Swaffham, losing 3 wickets during the opening overs. Oliver Black, playing his first-ever competitive match, and Jack Rooney were the only batsman not to lose their wicket and the team looked well placed to post a good score midway through the innings. However, the low bounce of the Swaffham pitch , saw Gt Melton stumble to 246 for 7, a net score of 211. Knowing that taking wickets would be essential, the Melton attack bowled accurately. Lohit Kannan and Aaron Bradford both took wickets as Swaffham scored 252 for 2 (net 242). The under 9s again showed great promise and have progressed commendably over the 3 matches played.
